Food Diary: Austin, TX

I’ve been living in Austin, TX for about 6 months now and I have been loving the food here! If you are new to my blog, I am a lover of food, especially clean and healthy food.

Austin is known for its local farming, and clean organic food and groceries. There are food trucks galore, and a fun and tasty new restaurant on every block.

Here are a few snapshots of some of my favorite local places. You can check out more on my Instagram Feed, follow me at @CrystalNgumezi

Masala Wok, Austin TX

This was a Kung Pao Chicken dish with steamed white rice. Very delicious and prepared well. This restaurant is located at The Shops at Arbor Walk, right next door to Plato’s Closet.

The Domain, Austin TX

This dish was a creative twist on the classic Chicken and Waffles recipe. The Domain is an outdoor mall in North Austin. This location has several tasty restaurants, shops, and boutiques.

Austin Cakeball Kitchen & Bar, Austin TX

This restaurant is home of the famous Austin Cakeballs, which are flavor – coated balls of cake that come in a variety of different flavors. I had the special red velvet cakeball! They added a beautiful creative design for the holidays.

Chi’Lantro, Austin TX

This dish was a rice bowl with spicy chicken, black beans, cabbage and lettuce, with Chi’Lantro’s special Magic Sauce. Chi’Lantro is a Korean and Mexican fusion restaurant that started as a local food truck.

Verts, Austin TX

Verts is one of my all time favorite restaurants here in Austin. This dish is the rice bowl with slow-cooked chicken, lettuce, cabbage, pita chips, and spicy red pepper sauce.

Orange Cafe, Austin TX

Orange Cafe is a frozen yogurt specialty shop with many flavors of frozen yogurt and treats. I am lactose intolerant, so I always choose the pineapple dairy-free flavor (with added sour worms on top).

God bless,
