This week I had the great pleasure of serving a community that is often ignored and looked down upon – the homeless.
I have mentioned previously of my desire to serve the homeless, so this opportunity ignited great joy within my heart.
A wonderful lady in my church’s small group came up with this great idea:
- Create a care bag of treats and necessities to give out to those in need.
As a group, we were able to create about 30-40 care bags to give out and distribute to the homeless. If you are looking for something memorable and thoughtful to do for this abandoned community, I would highly suggest this idea, or something like it. The level of appreciation received from the people that were blessed by these gifts made me want to get even more involved in serving this community.
One of the core principles of my church’s small group team is to serve the community in a special way. I thank God for the opportunity to serve and meet people on the street who I would have otherwise passed up on.
My hope is that you will use this post as inspiration to bless others with your time, your love, and your care. You never know what a simple act of kindness can do in someone else’s life.
These great men were kind enough to allow me to capture their spirits in these photos.
These photos were taken in downtown Austin, TX.
Enjoy this post, and go out and bless somebody!
